President's
Speech

Greetings and good wishes to you all!

I would like to thank all my members for having elected me as the President and my committee unanimously.

It gives me great pleasure to inform you about the progress that has been made in the last few months of the Managing Committee.

We had the privilege of conducting some of the most prestigious tournaments and I would like to make a special mention that the “Take Solutions Masters” PGTI tournament was a feather on our cap. Apart from the tournament being a grand success we also had the joy of seeing our very own Khalin Joshi playing some superlative golf and bagging the second spot.

We also had the privilege of conducting the “Bengaluru Open” in association with Tourism Department, Government of Karnataka from 13th to 18th November 2017 with a Prize Money of Rs.1 Crore, sponsored by the Tourism Department of Karnataka and is a PGTI tournament. Mr. Udayan Mane won The Bengaluru Open and the Runner-up was Mr. Honey Baisoya.

The immaculate condition of the course and the various other facilities that were extended were complimented by one and all.

KGA won the inaugural Inter Club Match against Chikmagalur Golf Club.
KGA regain the “BANGALORE CHALLENGE CUP” after a gap of 3 years, against the Bangalore Golf Club.

A well-conceived KGA webpage has been created, thereby enhancing our visibility to all concerned. The ‘wifi’ facility has gone seamless at the club house and on the course too, with a friendly one time user registration.

The fully renovated Claret Jug Bar which has a breath taking view of the course has been formally inaugurated. The open terrace area has been covered with a glass roof and ambience friendly furniture, thereby making it an all-weather outlet. Special Friday Nights with the best of DJ’s from Bangalore has been introduced and this event has been very enthusiastically received by our young members.

I am happy to inform our members that KGA is leading from the forefront on renewable energy and water conservation. The new workshop designed and constructed with solar panel roofing has been inaugurated on 6th December 2017. Approximately 80KW of electricity per month has been generated. Our innumerable lakes on the course are a good source for replenishing the ground water table and our tertiary water treatment plant ensures that we get an endless supply of recycled water to take care of the irrigation needs of the course. In addition most fixtures on the golf course / club house have been replaced with energy saving LED fittings, thus ensuring a more efficient power management

We have focused our attention on the catering services, and are pleased to inform that there is an all round marked improvement on the food quality and service. The performance of the Bar has improved significantly ever since the club has taken over its management. Many special offers and the Duty Free sprits have benefited the members and increased the footfalls too.

The reception area of the club house and the landscaping of the entrance to the club house will be taken up soon and I am sure the same will meet with your expectations. The Caddies Benevolent Fund instituted a couple of years ago is of great assistance to many caddies and this year too the same has been disbursed as per their eligibility criteria.

The Diwali Utsav celebrated on 29th October, with over 1400 persons in attendance was a rocking success. The multi-faceted event compered by Kanya started out with popular Bollywood playback singer Jonita Gandhi, followed by DJ Jasmeet. The scintillating fire works was a treat to the eyes and was enjoyed very much by the children, members and guests. A well-stocked bar and a wide range of food ensured that everyone who came went home very contented.

The Junior Golf Programme is well on track and we are upgrading the programme so that more students can enrolled and hope to produce a good set of talented golfers from this academy in the coming years.

All SGM approved projects have been completed within the sanctioned budget, except the installation of the elevator, which is under progress.

The court cases with regard to the Car Park case has been favourable and all other pending court cases are ably being handled by our Legal team with utmost care and scrutiny.

I would like to inform our members that we are in the last lap of the lease renewal for 30 years for KGA with Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation.

I thank all our Members for their continued cooperation and support for smooth function of the Club.
