Local Rules

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 27):

A ball coming to rest beyond the perimeter fence of the course is deemed to be out of bounds. Additionally, a ball is deemed to be out of bounds if at:

  1. Holes 1, 2, 3 & 4 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes placed inside the netting.
  2. Hole 4 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes behind the green.
  3. Holes 1, 9, 10 & 18 – a ball comes to rest on the walkway in front of the clubhouse and in the clubhouse.
  4. Hole 10 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes on top of the bund.
  5. Holes 11 – a ball comes to rest beyond the fence/wall.
  6. Hole 11 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white line connecting the white stakes behind and left of the 11th green.
  7. Hole 12 – a ball comes to rest beyond the white stakes placed inside the netting. The nurseries are out of bounds.

Where both white stakes and lines are present, the stakes identify the out of bounds and the lines define out of bounds.

2. Ground Under Repair (Rule 25)
  1. Play Optional: All areas enclosed with a white line. Relief without penalty as per Rule 25-1b may be obtained.
  2. Play Prohibited: Mandatory relief without penalty as per Rule 25-1b must be taken for GUR areas marked with a board stating ‘Play Prohibited’, saplings marked with white stakes or white bricks, flower beds and ornamental hedges/gardens.
3. Immovable Obstructions (Rule 24-2)
  1. Advertising boards, benches, wells, panel boards, generator room & sheds, rain shelters, refreshment huts, light poles, grates, irrigation control boxes, sprinkler heads & embedded distance markers: Relief without penalty as per Rule 24-2b.
  2. The main vehicle track (whether tiled or not) running through the course is an immovable obstruction and relief without penalty is available under Rule-24-2b. All other paths on the course are not deemed to be immovable obstructions and no relief is available for them under Rule 24-2 or under any other rule.
  3. The pylons together with their concrete bases of the high fence on Holes 1, 2, 3, 4 & 12 are deemed to be immovable artificial objects that are out of bounds and no relief is available under Rule- 24. If the netting of such a high fence is bowed inwards on to the course, it may be pushed back (Rule 24-1).
  4. All yardage and hazard stakes are deemed to be immovable obstructions.

Where both white stakes and lines are present, the stakes identify the out of bounds and the lines define out of bounds.

4. Embedded Ball:

A ball embedded in its own pitch mark may be lifted, cleaned & dropped without penalty as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole through the green (Note 3 to Rule 25-2).

5. Distance Measuring Devices:

A player may obtain distance information by using a distance measuring device. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.

6. Accidental Movement of Ball On Putting Green:

When a player’s ball lies on the putting green, there is no penalty if the ball or ball marker is accidentally moved by the player, his partner, his opponent, or any of their caddies or equipment. The moved ball or ball marker must be replaced as provided in Rule 18-2, 18-3 & 20-1.

7. Dropping Zones:
  1. Holes 1 & 6: the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided behind the green may be used if the ball comes to rest on the path or flower beds respectively, without penalty.
  2. Hole 5: behind the green for lateral water hazard – the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided, to where the ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard, must be used under penalty of one stroke under Rule 26.
  3. Hole 13: if the ball is lost in the lateral water hazard on the left side only, the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided, to where the ball last crossed the margin of the water hazard, must be used under penalty of one stroke under Rule 26.
  4. Hole 14: if the ball comes to rest in the flower beds around the refreshment hut, on the left of the green, the nearer of the 2 drop zones provided may be used without penalty.
